The Nashville Business Journal recently sat down with Patrick Poole, SVP & Market Leader at Merus, to talk about his path into development, the growth of our Nashville team, and the work shaping our market.

Patrick Poole doesn’t take on complex projects for the sake of it, but his Nashville portfolio happens to be full of them.

The Brentwood native left his law career behind to lead the Nashville office of development firm Merus (formerly Al. Neyer) in 2020. In the last six years, his leadership has bolstered the firm from 10 employees to a firm with nearly 50 employees that’s tackling multiple high-profile projects.

The RiverGate Mall redevelopment, Rock Nashville and REI Co-op’s Lebanon Distribution Center are just a few of the projects that make up the firm’s $1.5 billion in developments in Middle Tennessee. He didn’t tackle any of these projects because they were easy, rather prioritizing on what he felt were right projects at the right time where his team can create the most value.
